  • • Removes air from the giving set by allowing little fluid to flow in the receiver then fills the fluid chamber to half way.
  • • Uses the tourniquet to locate the vein, cleans the area and gently tap the vein with a cannula, then release the tourniquet.
  • • Secures the cannula by applying the strapping correctly.
  • • Connects the giving set into the cannula.
  • • Adds oxytocin 10 iv into the infusion fluid and mixes well.
  • • Regulates the rate of flow as prescribed.
